The history of Oderberger
The Oderberger Stadtbad was designed by architect Ludwig Hoffmann in 1898 to provide the then rapidly growing district of Prenzlauer Berg with public facilities. The baths had to close in 1986 and no one has swum here since. Renovation of the listed building began in 2012.
The Hotel Oderberger Berlin has been open since January 2016. The indoor swimming pool continues to be used as an event location, and the swimming pool has also been open since 17.10.2016 and swimming is possible again after 30 years.
Historical guided tours
Every first Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. there is a free guided tour of the Stadtbad (except on public holidays). Meeting point is the reception of the Hotel Oderberger, registration is not required.
Open Monument Day 2026
On 12. & September 13, 2026, is Open Monument Day, and we’re excited to be a part of it. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days, guided tours will take place every hour on the hour: Let the family that runs the facility and the team guide you through the renovated Stadtbad and learn fascinating facts about its history.
